Bringing the farm to you, when you need it most.

Food is Medicine

Food is Medicine encompasses any number of nutrition based interventions, the foundation of which should be a robust system of population level food policies and programs that incentivize eating locally produced, nutritionally dense, whole foods. Nutritional security programs, such as SNAP and WIC, as well as school meals provide the next level of population-level preventative Food is Medicine measures. As additional or more complex care is necessary, individuals can receive groceries or meals tailored to their specific healthcare requirements in treatment-based Food is Medicine interventions.

The Changing Healthcare Landscape

Medicaid 1115 waivers are a relatively new funding mechanism used for various Food is Medicine interventions - mostly medically-tailored meals (MTMs) and produce prescriptions. Additionally, providers, insurance companies, and consumers are all on a trajectory towards rapid and meaningful Food is Medicine program adoption. The winds are shifting and we believe it's only a matter of time before Colorado follows suit, which would further expand this growth market.

Hospitals and Health Systems

As we’re recovering from surgery, illness, or hospitalization, our bodies are often starving for high-quality nutrition. Implementing medically-tailored meals or produce prescriptions during recovery has been shown to dramatically reduce readmission rates.

Nutrition Programs for the Aging

As we get older our ability to uptake vitamins and minerals declines, making it important to ensure our aging populations have access to nutrient-dense foods. Whether it’s creating a CSA drop-off location or  working with a dietician on meal plans for residents with specific needs, we will work with you to find a fresh, nutritional solution.

School Nutrition Programs

Healthy foods in schools have a massive potential impact. Necessary for the developing bodies and minds of our children, whole foods in schools have been shown to increase academic performance, reduce sick/tardy days, and improve the long-term eating habits of our next generation.

Employer Wellness Programs

Many employers have begun to introduce wellness incentives to help differentiate themselves. By utilizing these funds to help employees access healthy, local produce, employers promote healthier eating habits and provide nutritional education, ultimately leading to better employee health and productivity.
